Preak Implications for Najib

What happened in Perak yesterday surely has major implications for Najib, the newly crowned PM. After all, he was the mastermind of the Perak BN takeover. After all, he was the one who has been lining up all of the machinery of the nations: the media, police, judiciary, royalty, and the state civil servants, against PR in order to impose his version of the truth. And he himself has been so confident in ‘the truth’.
1. That the latest development really took Najib by surprise is evident by the widely reported fact that up to the very day of the historic event he was still painting a picture of the truth versus falsehood, the good versus evil, with the truth and the good undoubtedly siding with BN.

2. That he gave up the post of the Perak UMNO state chief (which he assumed very briefly prior to the infamous takeover) in favour of his chosen MB, Zambry, is another indication that he is so confident in his version of the truth.

3. That he offered a (flimsy, ambivalent and vague) olive branch to the Pakatan is an indication that he did not know of things that would come his way.

4. That he was humiliated in Bukit Gantang and yet did not did derive any lessons is evident of his great imbecility.

5. Alas, Najib could not be farther than the truth, the High Court rules.

6. The new PM is seen to be NOT on top of the events in the nation.

7. The new PM is not the mover of events in the very land where his rule is supposed to reign supreme.

8. The PM is indeed just moved, in fact maybe baffled, by events surrounding him.

9. That the latest turn of event took place within the first 100 days of his rule is a blow so devastating for Najib.

10. That is unbecoming of a PM.

While Pak Lah is well-known for doing mainly nothing, Najib is fast assuming the reputation of doing a lot of things , many of them blunders. Big blunders. Blunders that render a bigger man quitting his leadership role.

But then, his mentor had once shown him the way in 1988, and poor Najib knows no better.

The two episodes, in 1988 and 2009, just go to show that when a BN PM with no legal background take the helm of the country, all one can expect is constitutional and legal chaos. In 1988 it was already very bad. Yet, in 2009 what we have just seen is only the beginning...
