April 23 (Bloomberg) -- Pakistan’s prime minister said the government may “rethink” its peace accord with the Taliban in the country’s northwest if militants don’t disarm, as the Obama administration accused it of giving in to extremists.
“If peace is not restored, one can rethink the idea,” state-run media cited Yousuf Raza Gilani as telling reporters yesterday, when asked about the agreement introducing Islamic law to seven districts of North West Frontier Province.
President Asif Ali Zardari approved the so-called Nizam-i- Adal, or Justice System, last week to introduce Islamic law in the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas, which include the districts of Swat, Buner, Chitral, Shangla, Upper Dir, Lower Dir and Malakand. Together they make up 40 percent of the land area of North West Frontier Province bordering Afghanistan.
Under the regulation, conventional courts were to be replaced by a Sharia system of justice from April 14, the day the law was approved…
Ulasan: Seluruh Pakistan sewajarnya menjadikan undang-undang Islam dalam amalan bernegara.
