HK firm’s stake will not affect Bernas

KUALA LUMPUR: Padiberas Nasional Bhd (Bernas) on Wednesday clarified that Hong Kong-based Wang Tak Co Ltd’s control of a 31% stake in Bernas, will not affect the company.

“It will not involve changes in the control and management structure of Bernas,” the company said in a statement.

The statement by Bernas was in response to local reports on the issue Wednesday.

The statement said that following the listing on the main board of the then Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange on Aug 25, 1997, the direction and management of Bernas had been fully under the control of the Bernas board, which was fairly represented by the main and minority shareholders of the company including the government as a special shareholder…

Ulasan: Kita kena terima bahawa kita agak jahil dalam perniagaan berbanding dengan mereka yang telah lama berbudaya perniagaan. Yang penting ialah mempunyai saham dalam syarikat yang strategik. Macam-macam perkara boleh di lakukan di masa depan. Tak cukupkah pengalaman pahit bila LPN bertukar menjadi Bernas kepada orang kita? Sila tanya kakitangan LPN yang sanggup berhenti bila Bernas hendak di tubuhkan. Orang kita seronok setakat menjadi lembaga pengarah tapi keuntungan di tangan orang.
